Shaolin Yoga is a form of standing somatic movement called Qigong, which means 'energy work' , originating at the Shaolin Temple, China and practiced to this day by the 'fighting' monks for strength, serenity and health
It's a low-impact transformative exercise that can be practiced by people of all ages and fitness levels. It promotes relaxation, strength, and flexibility while reducing stress and anxiety.
Our Instructor Cherry, learnt this set during two periods of residential training in China totalling a year, living at a Traditional Martial Arts school in the hills. Studying under a Master who had lived and trained himself at Shaolin in China. This was his own morning exercise practice, learned at Shaolin.

No! Far from it. Yi Jin Jing Shaolin Yoga has been practiced for over 1000 years to strengthen the body, smooth the energy flow and calm the mind. Unlike more modern systems which come and go, such as Pilates, which was developed last century purely as a physical exercise, the Yi Jin Jing works on a much deeper level - the energy body, where trauma can be stored, and released
The whole set is performed standing up - no getting up and down or laying on cold draughty floors.

We will be covering the whole of the Yi Jin Jing later in 2026 - you can express an interest now and we will let you know as soon as we know when the course will run
You'll also receive access to our online video library teaching each movement, so you can keep up should you miss a class or for additional practice at home.
The classes will be held in Mytchett GU16
Pre-booking is required, no 'walk-ins' admitted
